Local SEO For Canadian Clinics: What Actually Works

6 August 2026·7 min read
A patient buys dentures once a decade. That single fact shapes everything about how a clinic shows up in search, and it explains why clinic owners so often feel like their marketing does not work.

The low frequency problem

A cafe serves the same customer two hundred times a year and collects reviews accordingly. A denture clinic sees a patient across a few appointments and then not again for years. The same quality of work produces a fraction of the reviews.

This is why review counts in clinical categories sit so much lower than in hospitality, and why a clinic with fifteen reviews is not necessarily doing worse than a restaurant with four hundred. But Google does not grade on a curve. It compares you to the clinic across town, and that clinic has the same low frequency problem and may simply be asking more consistently.

What to prioritise, in order

  1. Claim and complete the profile. Description, categories, hours, thirty photos.
  2. Ask every patient. This is the whole ballgame in a low frequency category.
  3. Separate service pages. One page per treatment, not one page listing all of them.
  4. Reply to every review.
  5. Consistent details everywhere.
  6. Bing and Apple listings.

Why service pages matter more for clinics

People do not search for a clinic. They search for a problem. Lower denture keeps coming loose. Partial denture repair. Same day denture. Each of those is a different search with a different intent, and a single services page cannot rank for all of them.

A page per treatment, each written plainly and each naming your town, does more for a clinic than almost anything else on this list.

What to say and what to avoid

Canadian regulated health professionals have advertising rules that vary by province and by college. As a general principle, describe services factually, avoid superlative claims about outcomes, and never use patient images or details without written consent. Check your own college's guidance before publishing anything comparative, because the rules differ and they are enforced.

A realistic timeline

Profile work shows within weeks. Review volume takes three to six months to change the picture. Service pages take two to four months to be indexed and start ranking. Anyone quoting you faster than that is describing an outcome they cannot control.
